1960 Austin-Healey 3000

by: Ross Belovich, Shop Foreman

This month we show what happens to an Austin-Healey 3000 when you start taking the rust out.  There is not much left now, but we promise we will put it all back together with new metal when we are finished. We will make it as good as or better than new. This particular Healey has been in the same family since new and it will be kept that way for the next generation. Other than the rust, it is an original untouched car. From time to time, we will post updates on our progress, so enjoy following along as we continue the progress.

The British Motor Trade Association Annual Conference

March 15-18 2018
By: Kim Spiece

The British Motor Trade Association held their annual conference in Traverse City, Michigan on March 15-18th with Hagerty Insurance & Cambria Suites hosting the event. There were a lot of activities and seminars to attend. This being my first year I was looking forward to learning as much as I could.  They had a full schedule for us. We first visited the Hagerty Insurance Center and got a tour of their facilities.
We then proceeded on a tour of MFD Classic Motors  which is a family owned and operated facility. Owners Mike & Dawn Fisher not only store their own unique collection of vintage road and race cars but allow others to store their vehicles as well. With over 35,000 square feet, the facility has everything an enthusiast could desire and provides plenty of space for a storage paddock, race shop, clubroom and gallery.
Here are pictured some of the cars that were on display.  Of course, most of you are aware by now that I am a muscle car girl and the 1969 Ford Mach I SCJ 428 caught my eye immediately. But, I can and do appreciate all the others as well especially this 1947 Allard Model K-1 Roadster. Pretty sweet ride if you ask me.
We attended several seminars at the Hagerty Garage including leveraging social media, creating and deploying an E-Newsletter, enhancing the client experience, broadening your customer base and of course what your clients need to know about insurance.  Above and below are pictures taken from the garage. Hagerty started in business insuring wooden boats. Also pictured, Jonathan Stein and Jonathan Klinger from Hagerty Insurance for the kindness, expertise and information. Also a big thank you to David Wallens from Classic Motorsports Magazine and the BMTA for gathering us all together for this awesome event. I was truly grateful they allowed me to follow along.
Our last stop on our tours was to the Hammer & Dolly Restoration Shop. Recently moved to their new location.
