Jaguar E-Types: The Long Journey of Concours Restoration

by: Ross Belovich, Shop Manager

This month we focus on one of several Jaguar E-types we are currently working on at Pollock Auto Restoration. This particular car is an early Series 1 that is currently undergoing  an extensive Concours' restoration. The body shell has been stripped and all metal panels have been restored or replaced as necessary, and our master metal technician has shaped and filed the metal to near flawless condition. The body has had a very thin filler coating applied to remove the smallest imperfections, and at this time the body shell is almost completed to the primer stage. Many hundreds of painstaking hours were spent to reach this point, with many more to go. This award winning 1963 fixed head coupe was a result of a similar effort by our staff at both Pollock Auto Restorations and Ragtops & Roadsters. Keep an eye out for a future update as this project progresses.

Boyertown Museum Food Truck Fair

by: Michael Engard

On June 17th Pollock Auto Restoration attended The Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles third annual food truck fair; The Truck Stops Here- Mobile Madness! Beautiful weather provided a great day for outdoor dining as we enjoyed tacos, burgers, fries and other artisanal foods. Ice cream from an original Boyertown Auto Body Works truck, a 1977 Mr. Softee, topped off the day. Many food trucks were manufactured at the Boyertown Auto Body Works. Food trucks from all over Southeastern Pennsylvania were at the museum to offer up some of their award-winning cuisine. All this, plus Sly Fox who provided beer, were in the museum’s newly renovated parking lot, across the street from the entrance to the museum which was open all day.

The Elegance at Hershey

by: Kim Spiece

I have to say being my first time ever attending The Elegance at Hershey, I was very impressed on how well the entire weekend went. We had the pleasure of debuting the 1938 Jaguar SS100 on the Concours show field.  I was amazed at the vehicles that were in attendance, It was very difficult trying to pick two of my favorites when there was so many to choose from. I met a lot of very passionate and friendly car owners while I was there. During the weekend, there were several activities to keep you busy. Friday and Saturday, the Hill Climb was held featuring vintage race cars. VIP Ride Along in the vintage cars as they traversed the storied hill course behind the Hotel Hershey. There was a Cars & Coffee offering club members and enthusiasts to show and discuss vehicles. A Gala Dinner Party and Auction was held Saturday evening. More than 70 of the world's finest collector cars from all eras were displayed through the formal gardens of the Hotel Hershey at The Elegance. It was definitely an awe inspiring feeling to see so many outstanding vehicles at one location at once. I am looking forward to returning next year. Proceeds of the event benefit the AACA Museum, the AACA Library & Research Center, and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Ontelaunee Region AACA Picnic Tour in a Triumph TR8

by: Michael Engard

Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans. -- John Lennon

I’m sure John Lennon was talking about bigger things than a local car show, but I had planned to take our client’s 1930 Ford Model A Town Sedan on the Ontelaunee Region AACA Picnic Tour. The Ontelaunee Region runs tours and events at least once a month and I was joining them for the first time on this tour. Unfortunately, the Model A was not available so I drove my Triumph TR8 to meet them at a secret location in Northern New Jersey!

Actually it was a convenient empty parking lot that was soon filled with more than a dozen classic cars. Tour instructions in hand, we proceed ahead, avoiding the expressway and traveling the back roads, where we soon met up with another group of cars from the North Jersey Region AACA! And a little ways on we met another group of classics, who joined the line behind us as we motored on down the road.

We were all headed for Woodmier Farm were AACA member Bruce Meier had invited  members from several clubs including the South Jersey Region AACA, Early Ford V8 Club, the local chapter of the Hudson, Essex, Terraplane Club and the Vintage Auto Club from Ocean City, NJ.
1.) two LaSalles were present, a 1935 Sedan and a 1938 Coach;   2.) the girl parking cars set this up - “The Red Row”;  3.) a 1911 Cadillac showing off its style;  4.) girl is enjoying the picnic from her grandfather's truck
The many cars, trucks, motorcycles and tractors were parked around the horse farm property and tents were set up for the attendees to enjoy the Pig Roast that was provided for us. A hay ride, with no hay, was available to tour the farm. Awards, with judging by the attendees, were handed to many lucky winners.
1.) a custom V8 powered tractor by Funk; 2.) people getting food at the pig roast; 3.) attendees eating under the picnic tents;  4.) Friends of Ancient Road Transportation Society (F.A.R.T.S.) emblem
It was a beautiful day at a beautiful location, with many friends and good food. And a bunch of cool cars, too! A big thank you to the tour organizers and everyone who attended, especially Mr and Mrs. Meier for providing such a great event. I’m looking forward to next year.
