Spring Forward

by: Kim Spiece
Spring has sprung early. With all the warm temperatures, the Crocus', Daffodils and Tulips have all started to make their way through the mulch.  Spring is officially March 20th.  I believe Punxsutawney Phil's shadow was cast by a spotlight because it sure doesn't feel like 6 more weeks of winter. Good for us "car folks" who want to get out and about and are tired of being cooped up for the winter. Don't forget to Spring Forward for Daylight Savings Time on March 11th, yes we lose an hour sleep.

British Motor Trade Association 2018 Conference

by: Kim Spiece
This year the British Motor Trade Association is hosting their annual conference on the shores of Lake Michigan at the Hagerty Insurance facilities in Traverse City, MI. The event will take place March 15-17th, 2018. I am looking forward to attending this event with Michael Engard and to learn something new. One of my "older" clients always used to tell me, " I'm 84 years old but there is always room for improvement and learning".  I'm eager to attend several of their seminars,  such as leveraging social media, creating and deploying a newsletter, enhancing the client experience, and planning strategy for the next 10 years.  Of course, while there, we also get to tour the Hagerty Garage and Hammer & Dolly Restoration.

1912 Model T Torpedo

by: Ross Belovich, Shop Foreman

We have taken in a 1912 Model T Torpedo recently. Is it an older restoration, and although it doesn't look too bad in pictures, up close you can see the old lacquer paint is failing and the wood structure has weakened. We will completely disassemble the car and restore it to today's high standards, preserving it for another generation to enjoy. This particular car has had an interesting life, and in the 1990's it did a coast to coast tour. My back hurts even thinking about spending a month riding on that old style suspension and buggy seating!

The Classics in Atlantic City by GPK Auctions

Feb 9-11th, 2018
By: Kim Spiece

GPK Auctions presented the 45th Annual Atlantic City Auction & Car Show on February 9th to 11th at the Convention Center. The event was well attended with many cars going over the auction block. They also had a corral for cars for sale and vendors throughout the floor space.  Pollock Auto Restoration got to show off our new tent for the first time.
We brought along "Ruby", a 1941 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible Coupe Fleetwood owned by John Lea of Pottstown Pa.  She was well received by many of the visitors to the show. Pictured some of the many enthusiasts surrounding her as Michael Engard answers questions about this exceptional vehicle. She has a 346 cid L-head V8 with 150 hp. The 1941 Cadillac had new front styling; a rectangular egg-crate grille and fenders that incorporate the headlights. There were only 3100 sold for that model year.
Here are pictured some of the cars that were on display or in the car corral.  1920 Ford Model T Speedster, 1949 Chevy Deluxe Convertible. And my two favorites pictured: 1953 Ford F100 Short Box Pickup Resto Mod 351 V8 Frame Off Restoration and 1966 AC Cobra Replica with a rebuilt 427 big block, 2x4bbl carbs, rebuilt C-6 auto transmission with Street Fighter Stall Convertor. 9 inch rear and 15" American Racing 5 spoke aluminum wheels.
