the Elegance at Hershey

June 8-10, 2018
By: Kim Spiece

The Elegance at Hershey was a weekend long celebration that began with the Grand Ascent, a vintage hill climb with vintage race cars and ended with the garden type party. The Elegance, showcasing some of the finest collector cars in the country were spread throughout the beautiful manicured gardens of the Hotel Hershey.
Above are pictured some of the race cars that were on display from the vintage hill climb at the evening's festivities after the races were complete.
Here are some of the finest collector vehicles on display. It was hard to choose only a few as all of them were gorgeous in their own right. Pictured above left is a 1929 Duesenberg J Convertible Sedan owned by John Shibles from Sea Girt NJ. Above right is a 1934 Buick 98C Phaeton owned by Nicola Bulgari from Allentown Pa. The two photos above lower left and right are a 1931 Cadillac 30-A-V-12 Convertible Coupe, owners Scott & Ellen Deno from State College Pa and a 1924 Packard Model 143 Town Car with their owners Dean & Jean Hanson from Rochester Minnesota.
These two particular vehicles were my favorite picks from the Elegance. Above left, Stpehen Plaster from Lebanon Missouri brought his 1931 Hudson Greater Eight Boattail Speedster, very sharp looking vehicle and above right is a 1952 Chrysler D'Elegance Coupe owned by Donald & Patricia Taylor Bernstein from Clarks Summit Pa. I've never seen anything like these two and were so overpowering to the imagination for their time period.
Pictured to the above left, winner of the Best of Show for this year's Elegance was a 1937 Bugatti 57S Atalante from the Rare Wheels Collection out of Windermere Florida. What a beautiful, magnificent vehicle. Pictured above right, our set up display under the vendor area tent. For a lengthy period of time on Sunday during the Elegance show it rained very hard and Pollock had provided car covers for all the owners on the show field to help keep those magnificent vehicles dry.
