Spring Arrival

by, Kim Spiece

Happy Leap Day! Spring is only a few weeks away, the long part of winter has past us by with not much snow falling on our region here. The tulips, daffodils, crocus, and hyacinths are all popping their heads out of the ground, many of them several inches tall already. I guess Punxsutawney Phil was right when he said an early Spring! Many local car cruises have been popping up in the area due to the nice, pleasant weather we've been having here.

Reminder - If you chose to put your vehicle up for winter storage, there are things that need to be done to get it ready for the road again. This is also a great time to handle routine maintenance, making upgrades and repairs and, if in need of some restoration work, please feel free to give our office a call at 610-323-7108, we would be more than happy to assist you! You can also take a gander at some of our work on our updated website under the 'portfolio' and 'works in progress' tabs. No job too small or too big!

1927 Lincoln Model L

by: Mike Engard
We recently delivered this '27 Lincoln that came to us running poorly after a road trip in Canada. Testing revealed poor oil pressure and no compression in 3 of the 8 cylinders. This led to a complete engine rebuild including re-babbiting the main and rod bearings, fabricating new pistons and a complete valve job. We also rebuilt the ignition system, the water pump and replaced the generator.
Once it was running properly the owner asked us to replace the top with the correct Tuxedo Black material and new trims.

1935 Terraplane

  February 2020

by: Dave Hutchison

We just delivered this 1935 Hudson Terraplane back to the owner. We restored this Brougham for his father about ten years ago. After sitting idle for several years, our team refreshed the car and it is again ready for Spring driving.

AACA Winter Meet

February 7-9th, 2020

by: Kim Spiece

When I attended the annual AACA Winter Meet / Convention this year in Philadelphia, I got to see many friends I made over the years and also greeted some new faces while we were set up in the Trade Show area.  We brought along a 1912 Model T as you can see by the above photos. It seemed to draw a lot of attention from the participants and vendors.

They also showcased a "pine wood derby" Saturday afternoon which was a fun event to attend as seen by the photos below with Elizabeth Coble taking home 1st place. Congratulations!
There were several different seminars that you could attend throughout the weekend and I did find my way to the National Judging School seminar and earned my first chip and credit. It was very informative and I learned alot about how cars are evaluated and judged and look forward to attending more AACA sanctioned events and performing some hands on judging as an apprentice. There are over 35 automotive subjects so this is just the beginning for me with much more to learn and understand.  If anyone is interested in judging and / or becoming an AACA member, there are local regions all through out the United States and National Club as well.
Pictured below is the 1908 Studebaker Electric 12 Passenger Bus. It is one of two vehicles commissioned by the US government. It is showcased in the Swigart Antique Auto Museum off of Rt 22, Huntingdon, PA which is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and educating present and future generations.
There was also an original 1976 Citi Car, the first mass-produced electric car in the United States by Sebring Vanguard, Inc.
Pictured below far right, was a 1934 DeSoto SE Airflow 4dr Sedan that featured an aerodynamic styling like the front of a Divco delivery truck.

Did you know?

by: Kim Spiece
I was reading an article recently that I found interesting and wanted to share, that stated DeLorean confirms they plan to produce "new" DMC-12s. Originally it was planned to begin in 2016 but with the new federal regulations and the Low Volume Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Act in 2015, it got put on the back burner, so to speak. Plans are now underway to prepare for a limited production of a new, much upgraded version of the classic stainless steel, gullwing coupe. They will be built from a mix of new-old stock and brand new parts and could get a 350HP engine with an upgraded interior design with modern amenities. The body will closely conform to the original 80's style but with modern updated headlights. The Low Volume Act requires that a manufacturer can only make 325 cars per year but the upcoming run is expected to be much lower than that, perhaps one to two a week.  The company is not taking orders yet and beginning of production still has many factors that it's depending on. Something possibly of interest to watch for in the near future.
