Buying & Selling Old Cars

by: Kim Spiece

Spring happens to be a time when people are thinking about possibly buying or selling their antique or classic car. Why? People are thinking ahead to summer months and warmer weather driving around in something that looks good, especially if they can do it with the top down in a convertible. It is also a key time for enthusiasts to have their new "toy" displayed at upcoming shows. Buying and selling your car online is a wonderful convenience but you need to be careful of "scammers".  eBay and Craigslist are the two online giants that are used most frequently. Craigslist offers free classifieds where you will find most used car bargains. eBay lists used cars for sale or for auction and has various purchase protection programs to help avoid fraud and scammers. Buyers and sellers flock to online sites because they want to maximize the value of their used cars quickly. While you may pocket more money, there are downsides such as having to meet with strangers, arrange for test drives, exchanging large sums of money and paperwork.

Here are some key points to help avoid falling prey to fraud or scammers:  speak personally with the potential clients, scammers provide no personal information. Always ask for cash, if either party requests cashier check you should meet at the bank: checks can be fraudulent and checks can bounce. Don't be over eager to get the deal done. If unsure of safety, meet in a "safe zone"; choose a location or well lit public place, and if you feel uncomfortable, bring someone along. Avoid those with too many stories, they are trying to make you feel guilty or sympathetic and you should not become emotionally involved.

For more hints and tips there are other places you can search such as,, and I am including a few links here that I have found of interest and I believe you would as well if you're in the market to buy or sell.

Happy hunting and good luck selling!! And of course, if you need some restoration work, you know who to call, Pollock Auto Restoration!! No job too small nor too big!!

by: Kim Spiece

Cruisin' Ocean City Maryland is returning for its 28th year to the beachside resort town May 17-20th at the Inlet parking Lot and Convention Center. It is known as one of the hottest shows on the East Coast. People from over 20 states and Canada travel to this show every year and it attracts over 3000 customs, hotrods, prostreets, muscle, classics and tuners. There will also be several other smaller cruise-ins that take place over the four-day event at various business locations in and around Ocean City. Special guests to attend are Rob Wolfe from American Pickers, Erin Murphy from the television series Bewitched, and Courtney Hanson from OverHaulin'. Each morning there will also be a special parade of cars beginning 8am. Looking forward to attending again this year.

1927 LaSalle

by: Ross Belovich, Shop Foreman

This 1927 LaSalle has been brought to our shop for an interior restoration. As you can see the moths have done a lot of damage to the otherwise acceptable upholstery. Keeping your old car maintained and the miniature wildlife from gnawing away at your investment is a constant battle when owning a classic. The better the environment the car is stored in, the easier the job of maintenance, but things like this can happen even under very good conditions. We will be looking at bringing this car back to touring condition in the near future.

Mid Atlantic Indoor Nationals

April 7-8th, 2018
By: Kim Spiece

It was the first year back after several years of no auto show at the Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, PA. Motorama Productions presented the Mid Atlantic Indoor Nationals the first weekend of April and was the first of many car shows that many of us will attend this upcoming season. It was a pleasant weekend with over 200 vehicles to admire that were on display and being judged. There was a variety of auto related vendors on hand as well. We had a great time seeing old friends, meeting new friends and checking out all the vehicles as you can see from below.
As you can see our booth above along with Grundy Insurance, also pictured is a 1970 Ford Mustang Mach I owned by Raymond Jermyn from Lansdale, PA. Interesting to note that the paint job on this car was performed in 1987, not bad for 31 years.
Here are pictured some of the cars that were on display. Top left is a 1972 Dodge Charger owned by Ken Conrad from Annville, PA. Top right is a 2006 Mongoose Corvette owned by William Connery from Oaks, PA. The bottom photos show a 1957 Ford Thunderbird convertible from Birdsboro, PA owned by Ron & Joanne Heidenreich and a 1957 Chevy from Harleysville, PA owned by Peter Kranz.
One of my favorite cars I see several times throughout the year at many indoor shows belongs to Chuck & Tina Niglio and their 1932 Ford Sedan from Silver Spring, Maryland. This build took 7 years to complete, a lot of love and money went into it as you can clearly see. A lot of shiny cool parts such as chrome rotor covers and spindles, steel running boards, on an original steel body, side panels and fenders with a Ford 351W with 174 Blower 5lb boost.

A great show to attend, looking forward to next years return.
A Wonder-Full Garage Tour

By: Dave Hutchison

On April 21st the Delaware Valley Triumph Club had the distinct pleasure of visiting the Bill Wonder Garage located Somewhere, Southeastern PA. I have known Bill for many years through the Old York Road Sports Car Club and he graciously hosted 16  DVT Members for a visit. His son James was on hand to talk about many of the race cars that are kept in running condition. I have to say that the 1985 Ford Probe GTP car powered by a supercharged 1.6 liter that develops well over 1000 hp was one on my favorites as it still hold the record of 204.233 mph for a closed course set at Talladaga by Lynn St. James. Mike and I always enjoy Bill's stories and his experiences are truly a treasure! Thank you James Wonder for your guided tour!
